Fabulous Fabrics for Fabulous Bags

I love different handbag fabrics in my bags. Do you know why? Here are my top reasons:

*** I can buy handbags with different fabric at a fraction of what their leather counterparts would cost me. I can stay up with the latest trends without having to use my savings. If a handbag ends up not being for me, I can give it away without feeling guilty about how much of my paycheck I spent on it.

*** How can any discussion on fabric bags not cover the signature jacquards of all our favorite fashion houses?

*** As long as we’re talking easy care fabrics like cotton, polyester, or nylons, I can usually wash my handbags if they get dirty. At the very least, I can wipe them down with a damp washcloth and not worry about discoloring them.

*** Many of the latest microfiber fabrics have a modern edge to them that you can’t get with leather. I don’t know if it’s the shine or the way they have such crisp tailored seams.

*** Colors and Prints. I don’t know about you but ultimately most prints on leather look gaudy. I guess the exception would be when you see croc or snake embossed on the leather. But other than that, leather looks better rather plain. Also colors can be a tad garish in leather whereas they look just right bright in other materials.

Can you think of any others? If you can, I’m sure that they are good reasons. Here are some of my favorite fabric handbags. I hope that they’ll soon become yours as well:

*** Kate Spade - any of her nylon bags. If you don’t own a Kate Spade handbag you owe it to yourself to go out and buy one right now. My favorite styles include the nylon mini Paulette which is a mini hobo with a very modern rounded handle (yours for $95).

*** Vera Bradley quilted cotton handbags. Again, anything from their collection would do just fine. If I had to pick one to start with, I’d go with their classic handbag. Now which fabric are you going to choose? Oh no!

*** Juicy Couture collection. Either the Velour Fairy Tale Roll Bag ($125) or the Velour Bowler ($158); I’m having trouble picking. Both are in pink velour with golden colored hardware. Their have their adorable Juicy emblems stamped on both bags.

*** Guess Saloon Dr. Satchel in blue denim with their signature print all over it. This is one of their best sellers and is it any surprise? This bag has plenty of pockets on the outside, white leather trim and silver metal hardware ($75).
