Botkier bags started with a dream. Monica Botkier originally set out to design the handbag of her own fantasies. It was supposed to be a one-shot deal, with her the only happy recipient of her handbag inspiration. The problem is, her dream bag caught the attention of her friends, colleagues, and many others in the fashion world. The next thing that Botkier knew, her bags had gone from a personal fav to a worldwide wonder. Come to think of it, that’s not such a problem for Botkier, or for you and others intrigued by the Botkier line.
Botkier’ handbag inspiration did not come out of thin air, though. The designer was a professional fashion photographer in her former life, and a successful one at that. She did shoots for magazines such as Seventeen, Surface, The Fader, Mademoiselle, Fitness, and Nylon. And she also did special projects with clients such as Tony&Tina and Triple 5 Soul.
So it was, after taking photographs of countless models with so many different handbags, Botkier realized that nothing out there already on the market matched her tastes. Hence, the light bulb flashed on in her head, and she realized she would have to make that bag herself. The end result was a classic Monica Botkier bag, part fashion, part sense. She had created the first “Botkier Trigger Bag.”
What sets apart the Botkier trigger bag—and what immediately got the attention of her friends and other fashion industry folks, was the exquisite and unique leather plied with Old World craftsmanship, combined with hardware that spoke of the attitude of Botkier’s hometown, Brooklyn. Not to mention, such beautiful bags are also practical. They come packed with pockets, for cell phones, keys, wallets, changes, and whatever else you need on your day’s adventure.
Such style and sense has captured the attention of the fashion world, as well as that of the glam world. Botkiers can also be seen on the arms of clients such as Gwenyth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bridgette Moynihan, Victoria Beckham, and Brittany Murphy.
And Botkier is sure to continue to garner adoration for bags that are in the works, such as a snakeskin one, a baby bag, and other dreamy products of Botkier.
