Jana Feifer launched her own accessories company in 2001, and she’s ignited the handbag world ever since. Located in Los Angeles, her production company has produced world-renown bags that have caught the eye of super models, super divas, and super everyday women. And Jana Feifer is not done.

That first lineup of handbags, from 2001, was called Jana Feifer, a line of contemporary handbags. Jana Feifer managed to place her first bags in stores like Bergdorf Goodman, as well as in specialty boutiques.

By 2002, Jana Feifer had her next lineup of bags on the market, called JAM by Jana Feifer. It featured initial-themed bags and accessories for traveling. With JAM, Jana Feifer had her first huge hit. Fashion critics and fashion buyers all ate up JAM, as if it were its namesake with peanut butter. The media even went so far to say that Feifer should get credit for the recent resurgence in handbags.

At least, you could say that she started the recent trend of Hollywood starlets latching onto, and making famous, a handbag collection. The list of superstars who bought and carried Jam included Hilary Duff, Katie Holmes, the Olsen twins, Britney Spears, Renee Zellweger, Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, Christina Applegate, Gwen Stefani, and Nicole Kidman.

If you know Jana Feifer’s background, you might not be surprised at this success. Her mom is a designer, and Feifer is even named after a famous accessory fashion designer from the 1960s. Coincidence? I think not!

Her first foray into the fashion world wasn’t as a designer, though. In 1998, she founded a promotional products development company called Bloom, where she worked with DKNY and Calvin Klein, among others. Then she struck out on her own.

Now with this experience and success under her belt, Jana Feifer came out with a 2005 that took her look more vintage than ever before. She’s gone to richer, more eclectic colors, such as kelly greens, deep browns, rich purples, and burning reds. She’s tapped into furs, tweeds, and sublime Italian leathers, and shaped these fabrics into buckets, totes, and clutches.

With this new look, Hollywood has-beens and shooting stars, along with the rest of us on the streets, at the beaches, and in the malls of the real world, will surely be buying a new Jana Feifer bag.
